pening Scripture: John 14:26

Bible Challenge: 1 Corinthians 13

Spiritual Growth - The Word, Worship, Prayer, Living Generously

John 14:26 “But the Helper (Comforter), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

“It” is Personal

If we do not come to the revelation that the Holy Spirit is a person, we will never develop a personal relationship with Him.

Holy Spirit - Literal Bible Definition

Holy Spirit - Para-cletos - Greek: Only appears 5 times the Bible.

Life Application - Helper or Comforter

                       John 14:16 Helper

                       John 14:26 Helper

                       John 15:26 Helper

                       John 16:7 Helper

4 of the 5 times at the Lord’s Supper.

God:

God - The Father - Father is His descriptive role.

God - the Son - Son, is His descriptive role.

God - the Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit- The Holy Spirit is a descriptive term for the function of His role in the Trinity.

Illustration: Joel

           Joel is a Father

           Joel is a Son

           Joel Spiritual Gift - Apostolic

Does "Apostolic" make me any more or less of a Father or Son? Apostolic is just a descriptive term of how God created Joel.

“It” Is Real

3 Types of Baptism

Baptism in the Body of Christ:

           Baptism of the Holy Spirit

1 Corinthians 12:13 "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit." (NKJV)

Baptism in Water:

Matthew: 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,"

                       References: Colossians 2, Romans 6

Jesus does the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit: Matthew 3:11, Mark 1:8, Luke 3:16, John 1

Matthew 3:11 “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Mark 1:8 “I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

Luke 3:16 “John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

John 1:33 “I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

1 Corinthians 12 & Matthew 3 are grammatically and Theologically different.

In 1 Corinthians 12, the Holy Spirit is the Baptizer

In the 4 Gospels, Jesus is the Baptizer.

The Holy Spirit wants to baptize into the Body of Christ. Christ wants to Baptize you in the Holy Spirit.

Very few things are in all 4 Gospels. They are the birth, death, Resurrection, Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

People received all 3 Baptisms.

           1. Acts 2:37-38

           2. Acts 8:5-17

           3. Acts 19:1-6

1 John 5:7-8 "7 For there are three that bear witness in Heaven: the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.” (NKJV)

1 John 5:7 that bear witness in Heaven.

1 John 5:8 That bear witness in the earth.

                       Blood - Saved

Water - Cutting of flesh; the old man is cut off

                       Spirit - Empowerment

Saved - New Creation in Christ

Water Baptized - Cutting off of the old man

Spirit Baptized - Power to walk out the New Life

Baptism of the Holy Spirit is what happened when salvation occurred. He Baptized you into Christ.

Baptism in Water is the cutting off of the old person.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit is Jesus' gift or baptism for the believer.

The Holy Spirit wants to baptize into the Body of Christ. Christ wants to Baptize you in the Holy Spirit.

“It” is for Us

John 10:10 - “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

           “Life” - Zoe

“It More Abundantly” - over and above, more than is necessary, superadded, exceeding abundantly, supremely, something further, more, much more than all, more plainly.

What is the "It Factor"? The "It Factor" is You! The You, walking in all 3 Baptisms.
