This series is the foundation for the next 4 months at TWBC.
II Corinthians 10:13b “…but will boast (celebrate, glory in) only with regard to the area of influence God assigned to us, to reach even to you.”
1. Recognize our area of influence.
2. To Reach those who we were assigned.
Ps. Korey - “All people are one encounter with God away from being a believer.”
We must influence culture within a 20-mile radius of TWBC.
Influence - A Dynamic Effect on the People and Culture
II Corinthians 4:3-4
3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
II Corinthians 4:4 “In their case the god of this world…."
god of this world (World meaning this age, culture, or periods of time, not earth or globe.) god - Satan
II Corinthians 10:3-5 “3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,”
If you allow the Holy Spirit to move now, He will turn the strongest fortresses of your heart into sandcastles that are washed away.
“but [we] have divine power to destroy strongholds.”
This term “Strongholds” is actually “Fortress” or illustrated by the term castle.
1. a castle, stronghold, fortress,
2. arguments and reasonings by which a disputant endeavors to fortify his opinion and defend it against his opponent
A Stronghold’s foundation is laid when we trust in anything other than God.
Proverbs 21:22 “A wise man scales the city of the mighty and brings down the stronghold in which they trust.”
If there is a power given to us, there is an implied commission expected of us.
If you are the manager of a 1000-acre ranch and the owner says to take care of all his property and hands you a set of keys to his barn, and there are several ATVs and Trucks. An implied commission is directed to the manager to go get in the vehicle and take care of his property.
The Castles that the enemy has built through the years we constructed by “Taking the Bait” through arguments or speculations, lofty opinions or things, and thoughts.
You do not have to know how castles are formed to have them destroyed. However, if you do not realize how they got there, you are destined to fall victim to them again.
I want you more than “Set Free;” I want you to “Stay Free!”
John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
What are the building blocks that lay the foundation of the fortress?
When you agree with a lie, it may as well be the truth to you.
As you agree with these lies, "brick by brick," they become a castle harboring diabolos. We are actually self-sabotaging because we are giving safety to the source of the stronghold.
Paul says to destroy these fortresses, not remodel them. Therefore, do not try to transform thoughts, lofty things, and speculations.
Do not confuse this with Romans 12:2 "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
Destroying Castles is part of the renewing process.
Thoughts - The Bait, the random things that pop into our heads. We can choose to entertain it or reject it.
Example: You'd be happier with them!
Speculations - These are the “what if” questions that will torture us if we leave them unchecked.
Example: You feel bad, and "What if it's cancer?" happens.
Lofty Things - These are philosophies making us feel that the devil is more prominent and powerful than we are.
Example: When you step out by faith something has got to go wrong.
These 3 Building Blocks, when strategically used by the devil, build castles allowing a "defeated enemy" to rule and reign.
Thoughts are random ideas. Speculations and Lofty Things are “systems of thought,” many times driven by fear, that are strategic in focus.
Thoughts - are the foundation.
Speculations - Are the planning.
Lofty Things - are the defending of the evil stronghold.
Cautious and safe many times is fear, not wisdom. Careful and Safe never moved any mountains.
Before we take the castles of our culture, we must begin by storming the strongholds of our hearts!
Know your Kingdom!
To know your kingdom is to know the King! Read Jesus! Read the Gospels!
1 John 4:17b “…because as he is so also are we in this world.”
Start believing the miracles over your mess!
Know your Promise!
I Thessalonians 5:24 “He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.”
Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.”
The most intimidating Castle the enemy tries to build is getting you to believe you are less than ALL that God said you are.
If you allow the Holy Spirit to move now in this altar call, He will turn the strongest fortresses of your heart into sandcastles that are washed away.
