ore: Authentic Relationships

Authentic Relationships: By creating an environment for divine connection, we developquality relationships and experience life in Christ together.

Acts2:42-47 (New Living Translation)

42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.

43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed manymiraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all thebelievers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 Theysold their property and possessions and shared the money with those inneed. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple eachday, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joyand generosity— 47 all the while praising God andenjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord addedto their fellowship those who were being saved.

FoundationalPrinciples Connected to Authentic Relationships:

1.     Authentic Relationships make you stronger

Ecc.4:9-10, 12 – Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. 10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. 12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer.Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

2.    Authentic Relationships make you smarter

Prov.15:22 – Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success.

3.    Authentic Relationships make you safe

Prov.11:14 – Where there is no guidance people fall, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.

Key Characteristics of Healthy Authentic Relationships:

1.    Must be Rooted in Jesus.

John15:14 (New Living Translation)

14 You are my friends if you do what I command.

2.    Must be Full of Faith.

Mark 2:1-5 (New LivingTranslation)

When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God’s word to them, four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front ofJesus. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.”

3.    Must be Mutually Beneficial.

1 Peter 4:8-10 (New LivingTranslation)

Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.

10 God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
